Boss Babes Changing the World: Meet Makayla Jones

Welcome back readers to our newest edition of Boss Babes Changing the World. We are super excited to introduce you to our next unbelievably awesome Boss Babe, Makayla Jones!

Makayla and I both grew up in the Everett area of Washington state and I have had the pleasure of witnessing her blossom in to the most creative, friendly, and talented souls. It is an honor to call her a friend and I am a client for life! Makayla has many talents, including being a licensed cosmetologist serving the north end of Washington state through her company MakJonesCo.

Give her page a follow! She books everything from hair, waxing, makeup, weddings, brow tinting, boudoir, and she is consistently adding new ventures to her resume. Prior to becoming her own boss, she was a barista and learned a lot from interacting with her customers about building relationships with clients. I always look forward to seeing her work as well as supporting her content on social media. You can follow her in Instagram at makjonesco and follow her on TikTok at makaylaj89!

I have gone blonde with Makayla
Then I went Pink with Makayla
And then she took me back blonde again!

As a wife, a mother to 8 beautiful children, and a business owner, it is no wonder we came to her for advice! There is no one we can think of who is more qualified on time management skills than a mom who homeschools 8 children and runs her company with grace! This means that nights and weekends are spent making her dreams a reality and engaging with her clients. We asked what made Makayla want to start her own business and she advised us ” I can’t work a corporate job. Never has been for me. I love the freedom of making my own schedule.” We agree that this factor alone makes being your own boss extremely appealing!

We then asked what the hardest part of owning a business was and Makayla shared “Keeping up with all of the behind the scenes and being your own marketing representative.” PREACH SISTER, being a small business owner makes you a photographer, a social media manager, an accountant, a tax preparer, a website technician, and so so much more! It can be incredibly overwhelming! Because of this, it is so important to remember why you are doing it! Remember what motivates you day in and day out! Makayla says that part of her inspiration comes from “My friend Nora, I met her in beauty school, and she has three girls. When we met, she was pregnant with her second daughter. Watching her handle her business, evolve as a woman, and have a family has always left an imprint on me.”

Always remember ladies, it is possible to have it all!

When asked how Makjonesco is changing the world, Makayla said “I love empowering woman and helping them see their true beauty, each and every one of us is so different but so beautiful”.

By the way, she has an awesome Momster Club with access to super fashionable clothing at affordable prices! Use the QR code below to join!

Makayla starts her morning by praying, making coffee, then messaging with her clients! We asked what the best business advice Makayla ever received, and she shared “You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.” There are so many different types of days in the life of a small business owner, and you have to learn to take the good with the bad days.

It takes commitment to your dream and unwavering faith when things don’t seem to be working as you may have hoped. Always remember that God is faithful and exceeds our expectations far greater than our own imaginations. My prayer for you Makayla is that every single venture you take is blessed and successful because you deserve it all Mamas!

We are going to end this segment with a little game of this or that…Beauty Edition! Here are Makayla’s picks!

Once Again, thank you so much for tuning in to another example of Boss Babes Changing the World! We would love to hear from you! Please email us a nomination for a Boss Babe you know who is Changing the World in her very own way! It could even be you!
